Women and their babies work in perfect harmony during pregnancy and birth. I trust in the miraculous, natural progression of birth. It is my vision for women to have an empowering birth experience with confidence and trust in them selves. I am committed to providing you with unconditional and continuous emotional reassurance and physical comfort measures throughout your entire labor. I bring a compassionate, calming presence to your birth. I will work with you to help you explore your options, understand your choices and achieve your desires for your birth. I do not make decisions for you or project my own values onto you. I will honor the choices you make in giving birth to your child.
How I came to this work: During college, a close friend asked me to be her labor coach. I attended the 5-week Childbirth Preparation course with her and supported her during the birth of her daughter. I will never forget the feelings of joy and awe when her daughter was born. Several years later, I supported her during the birth of her third child. It was an honor to be present during the birth of her children and it quickly became clear to me that the nurturing role was a natural fit for me. After these experiences, I became even more captivated with the significance of the transition to motherhood.
I continued working as an Export Manager in the International Shipping industry. Years later, I read an article about Birth and Postpartum Doulas and was happily surprised to learn this caring role had a title and that it was possible to provide this support to other expectant mothers and their partners. After years of looking for a more fulfilling occupation, I knew I had found an outlet for my compassionate nature. Thus began my journey as a Birth Doula.
